growth & wellness counseling
Thank you for stopping by. Currently, my practice is full and I am no longer working with new clients.
Hello, my name is Kenneth Marshall.
I am gay. I am male. I am multi-racial. I am a son, brother, uncle, friend, and partner. I have many identities, all of which enrich my approach to working with clients.
Being of Native Hawaiian, Chinese, and Western European ancestry and having been raised in a bicultural household, I learned that there are many ways to make meaning of the life that you were born into, while informing the life you create for yourself.
As a child growing up in Hawaii, I remember one of my aunts telling me, "Never turn your back to the ocean and she will always take care of you."
As a student at University, I remember one of my professors saying, "Personal growth is directly proportional to personal discomfort."
As a mental health therapist, my approach to working with clients is based on building upon strengths, to generate solutions that empower the individual. I support my clients as they fortify their connection to themselves and others.
My formal education includes earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Spanish from Seattle University in 2006. Later, I earned my Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from the University of Washington in 2012. I am fully licensed in the state of Washington as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LW 60804492).
I have over ten years of experience working at the University of Washington managing clinical research trials and developing therapeutic interventions, Seattle Counseling Service providing individual mental health therapy, and Sound (formerly Sound Mental Health) facilitating various therapy groups and providing individual mental health therapy.
